Plans canoes - Singoalla, €89

Singoalla is a double paddle canoe, a type of craft intented for a single person and propelled, like a kayak, with a double paddle. While very popular in North America it is almost unknown in Sweden. The double paddle canoe is easier to paddle and to handle than a canadian canoe. and with the double paddle, more efficient in shallow waters. It is also safer and drier in waves, as the paddler sits low and midships in the hull. Compared to a kayak the double paddle canoe is easier to carry, transport and store. It is also easier to pack, to enter and exit, and it allows comfortable changes of position.
For a single paddler who has no intention of learning more than the first 180° of the eskimo roll, and who will paddle mostly in semi-protected waters a double paddle canoe might represent the better choice. Or why not reduce the risk of vacation conflicts by paddling two small canoes instead of having to cooperate in a double. Imagine not having to agree on the pace, to make small detours on a whim, to look at birds or whatever - and to admire or take photos of the other boat and know that your own looks just as good. Double paddle canoes tend to be pretty boats, with long, low profiles and fine ends. They are userfriendly - easily put on the water and docile once there. If you build one, I suspect you will really use it.
