Paddlingswiki

Gunnar´s Nomad

Gunnar´s Nomad

From Gunnar Clarfjord, who recently presented a clever way to glue the hull-deck-joint, came a mail:

"Hello Björn. At last, after three months work, I have launched and paddled my Nomad. I couild have waited until the Easter holiday, but curiosity got the better of me. I was lucky, got it all - calm, hard wind and steep waves.

First real spring day...

summer colors

Of course it was paddling today. First time this year without gloves, in short pants and with no cap under the tuiliq hood; the gloves and the pants on purpose, the cap by mistake - I had forgotten to bring it. But it was warm enough in the water for rolling without it, in spite of hardly 6° C. Don´t know if I have finally gotten used to the cold, become numb or if the new tuiliq material (Chillcheater) is warmer than the old (bought a new one in the fall, since the old one had developed some leaks).

Söndag i sundet

Statistics in color

Always fun to have a look at where my visitors are. I have recently linked to the webapp Who's.amung.us, showing just this in different ways.

This is how it looks just now. Pretty good for a rather narrow paddle site, with just a fraction of the content translated to English.

Map over visitors

I am a little curious over those marks in Sahara, in southern Algeria and Sudan – and the one in the Australian desert. Abstinent sea kayakers far from home or desert tribes with dreams of rolling in exotic cold seas? In Amazonas, Brazil and Bolivia there are rivers at least, as in New Delhi.

A click on ”heat” shows the visitor frequency in color – the more visitors, the warmer the color.
