Panthera – Jeremy Guy

Panthera – Jeremy Guy

Hi Bjorn,

Hope all is good.

Well I finally completed my Panthera that I started 5 years ago! (albeit always some tweaks to make). (BTW Your reference will be added to the boat name, some problem with die cutting the font at the printers).

I did recess the coaming and also made a cutout lifting handle. I think it adds a little character, but it was a lot of extra work really. I have the idea of incorporating it into a panther paint design as an eye, in the future.

So after swearing I'd never make another boat, because of the work involved and being busy with creating sculptures, I'm now thinking of making another one for my wife. I guess I'm very impressed by the boat now I've been able to paddle it, and I learned a lot about boat building, which seems like a waste if I don't make another.

Thanks,
Jeremy

This is one of the most beautiful interpretations of my Panthera. The finish accentuated the flowing lines I spent so much time on, and does so with a sculptural elegance (which, of course, is no surprise, given what else Jeremy does!)

Thank you,
Björn

That handle is a masterpiece, and the finish wauw.

I could be tempted to copy it on my next build.

But as Björn writes somewhere, by mid july you have spent 150 hours and you are only half finished what to do ?

I have repeated this to my sister (we are building af Black Pearl from a kit from Petrus) over and over, we are not creating a piece of furniture we want to go kayaking. We thought we could have i finished in 2 month but. 🤗
