New paddle...

Just the other day I happened to find an unusually good piece of wood for a paddle, a straight grained 2x2 – to good to pass. I wasn´t looking for wood at all, but this piece out of hundreds of similar, did catch my attention.
I cut the plank and glued it together edge to edge to form a 1x4 and glued a couple of left-over fir strips to add thickness the the loom part.
With a saber saw I roughed out the loom and a little powerplane made quick work of shaping the blades.
I have never had a paddle with prettier grain!
