Today there was a short break between the winter gales. Maybe I am influenced by paddling absintence but I cannot remember a winter this windy. The last two weeks the predictions have been over 20 knots constantly. The relative lull of 15 knots today was a welcome surprice, and must of course be used. So I turned off the computer and launched at Lomma for an hour and a half of workout, surf and rolling.

”Hi Björn!
Here are a couple of photos from our show "vatten-nära" (close-to-water) at the Tanum municipal hall on the swedish west coast. With the help of local newspapers there has been great interest. mediaMed hjälp av de lokala tidningarna har utställningen rönt ett stort intresse. Photos and text complement the kayaks to inspire to paddling as well as building your own kayak, and give information on the building process and where to get plans.

Jean Betts from USA built a SOF at Anders Thygesen in Norway i Norge last summer, participated in Nigel Foster´s Bohuslän-tour and the Stocken kayak Meeting 2007, and has documented in beautiful photos a summer well spent.

En snabbt beslutad bassängövning - bristen på badtider i regionen innebär snabba beslut när tillfälle yppas, och vara att beredd vid udda tider, som till exempel en lördag kväll - drog ett femtontal paddlare som kunde unna sig lyxen av att ha en 50x20 meters bassäng för sig själva.

Not one single day of winter (in the meteorological sense: a full day and night with average temp below 0° C) and now: spring with blazing sun and no wind. I launched at Salviken today for a little rolling practice and a short trip down the coast and back.

Steinar Solstad in Norway is building a Njord and reports on the progress on a building log:www.solstad.org. Here you find a initial declaration on choice of kayak, materials, equipment, technical solutions etc and thorough descriptions of methods, materials, tools etc as the work progresses.
